Four men have been arrested after violent clashes between supporters forced the abandonment of the Premier Soccer League match between Hardrock FC and Dynamos at Chahwanda Stadium in Kwekwe on Sunday.

Police identified the suspects as Shingirai Chivavare (34), Matthias Taderera (43), Tavakuda Nyoni (46) and Emmanuel Dube (50).

The match was stopped in the 80th minute after fans from both sides threw missiles, invaded the pitch and fought each other following a controversial penalty awarded to Hardrock, who equalised to make it 1-1.

Seven people were injured and admitted to Kwekwe General Hospital in stable condition, while stadium property including turnstiles and barricades was damaged.

Authorities are also investigating how nearly 5,000 supporters allegedly forced their way into the stadium before the violence erupted.

The PSL said it is waiting for match officials’ reports, with both clubs ordered to submit written explanations. Police warned that anyone involved in violence or vandalism will face arrest.
