Zimbabwe's future depends on institutions, not individuals

Opinion

For too long, our political discourse has been dominated by personalities rather than policies. We debate the merits of individual leaders, elevate them to saviors, or condemn them as the sole source of our national struggles. But history has repeatedly shown us that true, lasting prosperity is never the product of a single individual. It is the product of strong, unshakeable institutions.

An independent judiciary, a transparent electoral commission, and a central bank free from political interference—these are the actual engines of a functioning democracy and a thriving economy.

It is time we shift our national focus. We must demand accountability not just from those in power, but demand the fortification of the systems that hold them accountable.
