The Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has set an ambitious target to generate 2,000 megawatts (MW) of power by the close of the year, signaling an end to the severe load-shedding schedules that have plagued industries and households alike.

This optimistic projection follows the successful synchronization of newly rehabilitated units at the Hwange Thermal Power Station, combined with significantly improved water levels at the Kariba Dam after recent heavy rainfall.

"We are currently observing a stabilizing grid," a ZESA spokesperson confirmed during a press briefing. "With the new units coming fully online and our solar initiatives contributing during peak daylight hours, we are confident in hitting the 2,000MW threshold, which will comfortably meet national demand."
