Following Sunday’s equaliser against MWOS, Highlanders’ Royn Nyamono earned US$50 for finding the back of the net, while Shelton Moyo received US$50 for providing the assist.

Goalkeeper Aron Ngwenya was also rewarded with US$100 for his heroics in the penalty shootout.

The payments are part of the Meat World Goal Contribution Award, which rewards Highlanders players for every goal contribution.

But at PSL level, one question is worth asking:

Is US$50 really enough to inspire a Highlanders player to find the back of the net?

Or should goal and assist bonuses be higher to provide a stronger incentive for players competing at Zimbabwe’s top-flight level?
